Although I am not really a believer of predictions. I have always believed though that life was designed by the creator to be full of complexities and uncertainties so that we can live meaningfully and with excitement. His intentions might have been to prevent us from living a boring life, as most of us have.
I am being criticized by my peers and relatives for my “que cera cera” view of the future. I am always ready to answer, however, that mine is not fatalism. Nonetheless, an acceptance that tomorrow is something that we cannot predict. What is more important is we live today and do what we can to prepare for a brighter tomorrow. But then again, that would just be another day like the next, and the next, and the next.
Like the turn of the new millennium and the Y2K (millennium bug) scare that accompanies it, 2012 is a very significant year. Important events like the end of the Mayan calendar and the alignment of the planets have also bred bad speculations about our fate. It is a commonly held that this particular year is the mark of the end of everything, as doomsayers tend to make us believe. To me, any day and year can be our last should something, a power beyond us, tip off the balance of the universe and cause a deadly chaos. Even so, for some people, this particular year is something to be really dreaded.
Dr. Laura Dunham who wrote the book, “Spiritual Wisdom for a Planet in Peril,” addressed this so called 2012 prophecy. She approached the issue in a positive and sensible way. In the book she offers how we may strengthen our spiritual moorings, choose a earth-friendly lifestyle, how to approach 2012 with confidence, among others. If you are the type who worries too much about these uncertainties in 2012, or even what tomorrow holds for you, then take the time to read what she has to say.
People with strong spiritual beliefs and who trust God are not too wary about these things because they knew and believed that their creator can secure them a better tomorrow.
