Self-lifestyle Check

self-lifestyle check looking at your reflectionI hate being dictated in how I want to live my life. And most likely, you share the same sentiments.

However, sometimes we do need people who are mature or experts in certain aspects of life to tell us what needs to be done or corrected to ensure that we live a healthy lifestyle. Now, if you are not also comfortable with that idea, you might as well spend a day or two to conduct a self-lifestyle check. Change for the better will not come unless you re-examine your ways, attitudes, values, priorities, and goals, and make the necessary adjustments.

A self-lifestyle check is a good exercise towards personal growth or maturity.

If you are apprehensive about what 2009 brings because of the ongoing global economic slowdown, you might want to put your finances in order too. Debts are one of the most pressing priorities that you should attend to this year. The recession shows no sign of waning. Understandably that sometimes, remedies do not come easily. In this case, you might need outside help, like credit counseling or a debt consolidation expert.

As I have mentioned at the outset, sometimes we need others to tell us what needs to be done. Managing your finances, and your debts especially, requires expertise. Admit it. I know that this is not easy. But who said that the cure is not painful? It is. Nevertheless, you know that it is the right thing to do.

Every New Year, I do not simply write a new year’s resolution as some of us commonly do, and then forget throughout the year. I spend time to reflect on what I have accomplished for the year, lessons from wrong decisions I’ve made, relationships I ignored, goals not met, and things that I think I should have done. More often, in some aspects of this self-lifestyle check, I ask somebody who knows me well to help me realign my priorities for the New Year. I must admit, it takes a lot of humility, courage, and openness to do this. But, it pays.

  1. Yes, it's an excellent idea to check in with oneself but I feel he or she do it spontaneously all the time. Other experts may be brought into play but the key to success with anything is if one feels good about it in the present, God's gift of right now.

My Freedom, Finance, and Fulfillment Formula post on my blog elaborates.

  2. Agree.

In fact, a self-lifestyle check should be done from time to time, not only when a new year comes or any other events.

    thanks Richard ^^

    Namaste!
