I heard my father once said that. Let me say it here again: There is no cure for an optimist!
Actually, I really don't know what he meant by that, but he got me into deep thinking about being optimist about life and in everything. Frankly, I am a pragmatist and a realist in a lot of ways, never a pessimist nor an optimist. William Arthur Ward once distinguished the three:
Now however, I am considering becoming an optimist. Why not? Is it bad to expect for the best? Hope for a better tomorrow? Have faith in the ONE who created everything and put order in the universe? I find no quarrel in those. So why refuse to be optimist in all situations?
Optimism increases our stamina to go on when we have given everything and yet nothing seems to change or happen. Optimism, with a dash of faith, can help us go through tough times. Optimism causes us to hope when there is no hope in sight. Optimism, as a blogger friend said, impels us to adjust our sails when the wind changes direction.

- The pessimist complains about the wind;
- The optimist expects it to change;

ReplyDeleteRemember when you wake up in the morning, you can choose to start your day with a SMILE or a FROWN! I usually choose the former! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. Really made me stop & consider changing my pessimistic ways.
ReplyDeleteStill not going to do it, LOL. But at least you made me think. ;-)
Thank you ladies for taking the time.
ReplyDeleteI believe, you will come back later to read my other entries. ^^,
Am being optimistic there. XD
A genuine optimist sees the reality and adjusts accordingly while still believing that things will work out sooner or later. I see myself as an optimistic person and I don't want to be "cured" of it! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, see, your optimism about people returning to read more of your posts just paid off- I'll be back!
Hi Friend,
ReplyDeleteMay I request, if it is not too much of a burden to you, to please subscribe to my Feedburner Feeds either through email or to my RSS Feed Reader. You can find them at the upper portion of my sidebars at all my blogs. This will save you the time of going over to my blogs to find out if I have made a new posting. The FeedBurner will automatically transmit, either through email or Feed Reader (whichever you choose), any new post that I make. This will facilitate linkages between us. I will do the same for you if you have your own feeds, but if you still don't have I will still visit your blog as often as I could. Just inform me via email or through your comment in any of my blogs that you have already enrolled in any of my feeds so that I can reciprocate your gesture. I will appreciate it very much if you could do this as it will definitely boost ranking for my blogs. Thank you very much for your usual kind cooperation and patronage of my blogs. God bless you and your loved ones always.
What can I say? I am totally incurable! :)
ReplyDeleteOptimism for me is faith. I believe something great will happen in my life. I don't know how, but I just believe it will materialize in its perfect time.
I have read some parts of "The Secret" book and watched its feature on Oprah. Its main principle is the universal law of attraction. "Like attracts like; you attract to you what you think about most. What you focus on expands." Given that, I wouldn't want negative things to manifest in my life, that's why I always try to be positive.
I suggest you check it out, if you still haven't read the book or watched the movie. It's really worth it.
Nice post, Ron! :)
@ Cindy
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding value to the post Cindy. ^^,
@ Mel
NP dude -anytime.
@ Kcee
I agree in you in part. Because optimism is seeing other way to seemingly unfavorable situation, while faith is believing and seeing what is otherwise not perceived by the senses.
I will look into that Kcee. Many thanks.
And there shouldn't be!
ReplyDeleteagree! ^^
ReplyDeleteoptimism keeps us living :)
ReplyDeleteNot only that, it makes us see better and brighter things in ugly and dark circumstances.
