Life is queer with its twists and turns,The last quarter of the year is almost a breath away. Looking back, January was a good start in so far as my small business is concerned. I was excited! I have many projects, so much so that I became choosy. I thought that trend will continue. It did so until the fourth month of the year.
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow;
You might succeed with another blow.
Then the twist.
As soon as some of the projects were completed, one proposal after the other was turned down. I am almost out of projects on the fifth month, then the sixth. Finally, on the seventh –there was none! Bills suddenly piled up. The pressure from peers, friends, and family mounted to abandon my small business and freelance work. And as if everything is conniving to bring me down, two of my clients never paid me in full for projects accomplished and four of my blogs, including this one, got PR spanking from the mighty G. Sure, ‘twas the perfect timing to really quit and head back to my corporate career. I stayed.
Then the turn.
August came and gave me hope. Clients started calling on me for new projects. They are not as much compared to what I have done in the first quarter, but I am slowly getting back. The recession, and probably the worst financial crash in the Wall Street’s history, could probably still hurt my business bad. Regardless, ‘though the pace seems slow’, I know that I will get through with ‘another blow!’
Whenever I feel down, I always look at the very same words. I wrote those lines in my diary when I first read them in college. It never failed to give me hope, to hold on, and look forward to the sunshine after the rain.
ReplyDeleteGreat to know that things are going well on your end. Good things do happen to those who wait, believe and persevere.
Keep the fire burning! :-)
I am crossing my fingers on that. I am just trying to muster enough courage here and believing everything will work-out well Kcee.
ReplyDeleteThank you. ^_^
Don't worry, it will. It has to. :-)
