Between Franchises and Small Businesses

Between getting a franchise and starting my own small business, I would always prefer the former. However, for lack of funding I ended up starting my own small business, capitalizing on my honed skills in Management Systems.

With no capital involved, I held office at home, and took a part time staff to assist me on the logistic side and other office essential trivialities. I still want to get a franchise, and I am particularly considering any of the popular Internet Franchises.

You may ask, why I am still considering a franchise?

A franchised business is easier to manage. Technology, systems, including training comes with a franchise package. Also, the credibility of the franchiser in the market carries weight, unlike when you are starting a business of your own. Establishing a profitable and reliable brand is one of the most difficult business feats. In my freelancing, it entails having a roster of satisfied clients who will vouch for my ability to deliver results and my business credibility. With a franchise, everything is almost in place already, and all you need to do is implement the system, sustain it, and build a loyal customer base.

How about you, would you consider a franchise? Why?

  1. Creating a small business from scratch will definitely be more challenging as compared to franchising from a well established company. There is even a high chance of getting a spillover of buyers.

  2. More challenging it is, but the risks are greater. Although, I must admit, no matter how you start any business, there are no guarantees of success.
