“In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God.” (1 Thesalonians 5:18)It’s a verse in the bible that is so easy to memorize yet so difficult to do at times. Can you still give thanks if you are dying of cancer? Or when you’ve just been fired? Or when your espouse left you for another? Or when everything else around you is crumbling?
It is easy to be thankful when everything is ok. But when the tide is turned against you, it’s a different story eh.
When the Apostle Paul gave that admonition of unconditional thankfulness, he was actually in the midst of hardships. Hardships that he described (at least in his perspective) have not befallen any man. In spite of, he remained thankful for everything and considered it “the will of God. “
Lest you misconstrue, the will of God he is referring is not about the ugliness of life or circumstances, but of the act of being thankful. That is the will of God. And that attitude gives hope, strengthens faith, and encourages others to do the same.
WOW! So true. I am thankful for all and thankful for you sharing your thoughts. Its nice to stop, read and think :)
