Your blogging activity will come to a point where you will no longer be contented with a free hosting platform. As you learn new things, and your blog grows in popularity or readership, you may want more control for which a free platform cannot fully serve. However, for a newbie (like me) choosing a website hosting plan can be a bit intimidating. Hence, allow me in this post to offer you the most basic considerations that will help you in your decision:
- Price. We normally equate pricey plan with better hosting packages. This is not always true. Although I listed price here first, IMO, it should be considered least. Review what the package includes, and listen to what others have to say about the web hosting provider too. Better yet, ask other bloggers. Good hosting packages ranges between $6 to $10. More or less than that range, you might not be getting the value of your subscription.
- Bandwidth. This is the allocation that accommodates how much visitors or hits your site can take on particular time. In a more techie term, this refers to the capacity it takes for the data you provide to travel to different browsers, more often simultaneously. They say that a ‘DIGG effect’ can sometimes cause your site to exceed its bandwidth. I think most bandwidth offered in a typical hosting plan for blogs can handle your requirements.
- Support. Can they offer seamless 24/7 support? All website hosting providers promise that they can. It pays that you read reviews, and again, ask feedback from other bloggers.
