My good friend Wikipedia defines Procrastination
Procrastination does not necessarily mean that we are lazy. It simply means delaying doing things –most of the time for unknown reasons –when we have in fact the time and resources to attend to them NOW. An old tire needing replacement, beginning that exercise or diet program, giving mom or dad a ‘hello or hi’ call, visiting an old friend, updating your blog (!)-oops, sorry about that, and, etc., etc. However mundane these things seem, but when you procrastinate a little more, you might regret the consequences later on.
What needs to be done? Make a list of your priorities, ranked them and attend immediately to those things that you can do today.
Ah! It’s time for me to finish my M.A. thesis.
as a type of avoidance behavior which is characterized by deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. It is often cited by psychologists as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision.Worst scenario of this ‘pet’ habit is putting off doing good things whenever we have the chance. Ah, this sentence is full of ironies huh: “put-off when we have the chance”-see that?
