Thankfulness is an attitude

thankfulnessIf you tend to be pragmatist and a person who is always on the go or a perfectionist who tends to expect only what is best, like me, there are times that we find it difficult to find the best in little things. This kind of lifestyle and attitude can more often fill so much of our attention that we forget to be thankful for the things that we have now, what others have accomplished, and more importantly, what God has bestowed us.

Thankfulness is an attitude. It is that innate feeling and conviction that regardless of where and what we are or how we feel now, we can still find in our hearts to be thankful for things that come our way. In fact being thankful is the key to true happiness. The late G.K. Chesterton, one of my fave writers, reminds me:
“When we were children we were grateful to those who filled our stockings at Christmas time. Why are we not grateful to God for filling our stockings with legs? “
Yeah! Why not.

You know why we are celebrating thanksgiving yearly and how it started. One among many reasons, according to H.U. Westermayer:
“The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.”
Showing and giving gratitude is an attitude. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  2. Thank you for this article,I really enjoyed reading it!
Decidedly, thankfulness is an a "attitude" to say it in your own words. But unfortunately, many of us has lost this attitude, and retrieving it may even seem impossible at times.
My wish for everyone who read this article, is that he found at least one reason that could make him feel thankful for his life.
